I realized that I haven't posted here in a year and that is because of Facebook. It's more private and it's easier. But today is my birthday and my husbands was yesterday so I was just looking back at the pictures here and remembering. Maybe this will be my inspiration to continue a blog of our activities without pictures. We have such a wonderful life and love. Every year we hike and ski 4th of July Bowl with our buddy Andy. This year we did it on July 3rd which is Andy's birthday. and my friend Neta joined us for her first time hiking 4th of July bowl. These pics are alittle out of order but we had a great day.

Jake and I hiked to the top of the Pali Lift at Arapahoe Basin on Labor day. Here are some pics, it was a beautiful day. And being up there reminded us of winter and we are excited for it to start to snow. (They started blowing the snow guns the day after our hike!)

Jake and I celebrated Memorial Day by going down to Denver for a Rockies game and then to the Nuggets playoff game. I think we sang the national anthem twice, sang America the Beautiful once and had two moments of silence for Memorial Day.

It's Cinco de Mayo and Baxter is 9 today! I baked him some doggie cupcakes and we sang. He doesn't look too excited but I think he liked it! The cupcakes are made with whole wheat flour, peanut butter, carrots, honey, oil & eggs and frosted with cottage cheese and carrots blended together. Yum!

My mom told me about making an "ice candle", a friend made one for her, so I tried it and it turned out great!
1. Fill a 5 gallon bucket with water and set outside (in MN or CO)

2. Let it freeze for about 18 hours - not frozen completely

3. Turn bucket upside down and pour water middle out.

4. Place a candle in the center and set outside on front walk.

My mom wanted to see how much snow we have so here are some pics of the house and yard with the snow. Jake and I are learning to keep up on the shoveling but it's tough when we were getting 6-12 inches everyday for a while there. FYI - On Dec 26th Silverton ski area just south of us reported 40 inches in 24 hours! The pass to the ski resort was closed so no one got to ski it that day.... Wow! We want that!Baxter loving his yard....

August was a busy month for us. Besides moving, we had two friends weddings and my fantasy football draft. Here's one pic of us at Ray & Tara's wedding and then two from the draft party in our garage! So great to have a garage!! My fantasy football league is all guys and one girl that work at the Dam with me.

We closed today on a house in Key West Farms in Dillon. It is just between Summit Cove and Keystone. We will move in next Monday July 7th. We are so excited and it has 4 bedrooms so we hope to have lots of our family & friends come and visit! WhoooooHooooooo!!!!!

The Frozen Four was in Denver this year and my roommate from college, Sarah, and her family came to Denver for it. With Baxter's skin allergies, we can't give him treats that have chicken or beef proteins in them so peanut butter flavored anything is his favorite. It's a very special day when we get to the bottom of our peanut butter and he gets to lick the jar. So cute!

Jake and I took a quick overnight trip to Steamboat Springs Ski Resort - home of the infamous "Champagne Powder." Well we had over 20 inches of it! It just goes "poof" as you ski through it! It was really awesome!

The trees were really beautiful! Steamboat had gotten almost 51" in the 6 days before we got there! It was the most snow I've seen in a while.....

Jake went to Alta Ski Area in Utah with his buddy Jamie. They left here at midnight on Tuesday night (2 weeks ago) and arrived at Alta at 7am. They had 30 inches of fresh snow to ski!!! Then Little Cottonwood Pass closed so they couldn't get down into town to stay with one of Jamie's friends. They had to get a room at Alta instead. When they woke up in the morning Thursday, they were interlodged! They lock all the doors of the hotel with big chains and bolts because they are bombing for avalanches outside and you can't go outside until they are done. Anyway, the Pass was still not open when they went back to ski that morning so there was only about 40 other people skiing with them that day. Jake said they had another 12 inches that morning and it was like having the entire ski area to themselves. They had a good time!

When I was home last, my mom gave me this christmas cactus. It had some buds and is now blooming! It's really pretty and christmas-y! Love ya Mom!

Thanksgiving & Midnight Shopping!

We had a great Thanksgiving and it was a wild 24 hours. We went to a concert in Denver wednesday night and then had Thanksgiving dinner thursday. Late thursday night, I went shopping on "black friday" from 12am - 5:30am!! Lots of fun!!

My dad retired July 30th and when we asked him what he wanted to do to celebrate, he said "Go camping with my family." So that is what we did. Jake and I met my family at the Yogi Bear Jellystone Campground in Sioux Falls, SD. It was sort of half way between MN and CO. Abby & Kelsey really loved Yogi and BooBoo. My grandfather Alven "Bops" passed away August 2nd and I flew home to be with my mom and my family. Bops will be missed but we have many wonderful memories. My grandmother Aggie is now in Viewcrest nursing home and I got to spend some time with her helping her get settled.

Saturday, July 21 - Jake's Birthday in Chicago

So this year for our birthdays, we went to the windy city of Chicago. This was the view down the river Friday night when we got to town.

The next day was Jake birthday so we started out exploring the city. First we went to Millennium park - it was a beautiful day.

Fountains downtown just outside Millennium park -there are screens on the insides of the fountains and at night they turn colors....

Then we went to the Art Institute of Chicago. Self portrait of Van Gough - which for those of you that have been to the Dam Brewery - this is were we get the "I'd give my left ear for a Dam Beer" idea for our tshirts:

My friend Stacy (in middle) will turn 22 on Wednesday June 13. She just graduated from CU-Boulder. My friend Neta (on right) just got a job as my assistant manager at the Dam Brewery where I work. Cool! Neta graduated from CU-Boulder last year. Thought this was a good pic of the three of us to post. It was at Stacy's graduation party at her parents house in Frisco. Stacy is working in Boulder this summer until she gets a "real" job in hopefully Denver next fall. We went to Las Vegas last year for Stacy's birthday!

Baxter turned 7 on May 5th (Cinco de Mayo) so we had a doggie birthday party for him. He loved his "cake/treat plate". He was such a good dog on our vacation and he really loves the motorhome. After kenneling him at the caverns, he didn't want to ever get off his "couch". Most of the time he was inside while we sat out by the fire.
